The stairs lead off the middle of the hall passageway. They are a variety of heights and depths and definitely higgledy piggledy (and tricky in parts). The carpet is a dark blue patterned one and we are not replacing it at the moment.
There is a window on the landing which looks out onto the side of the house. There were some dark blue curtains in the back bedroom so I dyed them navy blue to freshen them up, and put them up there. Also net curtains.
We were not going to decorate the stairs and landing in phase 2 as it is quite a big job, but then decided just to go for it. I had already seen some wallpaper that I liked so it was a quick decision.
It looks beautiful and the wallpaper is perfect for covering up the uneven walls. The wooden section at the bottom of the stairs is painted light grey and looks fine. It’s the same colour as the hall was going to be before we swapped to dark grey but matches well with the blue wallpaper and curtains.
