So, the parlour now looks beautiful especially the walls. They have been plastered and painted. The main part of the walls are medium grey, then light grey between the picture rail and the coving. The medium grey is the same colour as we had in our flat in Edinburgh. The carpet is patterned and does sort of go with the blue and grey theme and we will be keeping it as it’s good quality albeit old fashioned. It might come back into vogue soon rather than the current trend for plain, grey carpets.

The next step is to get book shelves in the alcoves for our Penguin book collection.
