Dining room – wallpaper and curtains

The dining room is one of my favourite rooms so we were keen to get some things done to it before we moved in. In fact, it would make a good kitchen /diner especially as the utility room leads off it but we prefer a separate kitchen so it makes a great dining room / general every day room.
We found the perfect wallpaper which is a Natural History Museum design available at a very reasonable price (£12 a roll!) at Dunelm (Home Store). I really like it and it looks modern but classic. Also, got curtains to match i.e. the same pattern but different background colour. The other walls are painted a pale creamy green (‘frayed cotton’ colour).
The walls are uneven but that’s fine with us and there is a line all the way along one wall as there is a wooden strip embedded in the wall – no idea what it is but suspect it was where a bar was or similar.
The old gas fire will have to stay for now although we won’t use it and it can be replaced in the future and the light fitting is a bit of a challenge. The wallpaper looks great and the room has a good feel to it. There is still a big pile of unpacked boxes in one corner but we have the dining table up and a sofa in place and new carpet down.
